super tuesday, unsuper style

Today I walked out and voted at Cypress Meadows. It was very pleasant, but it went, you know, really slow. It took me about twenty-five minutes: four minutes to mark my ballot, and twenty-one minutes for everything else. There was one person in front of me.

Then, in front of me at Raley’s, was a lady with a basket full of organic vegetables and a couple of containers of Straus ice cream. Like me, she was very high maintenance, so I had to wait while the clerk went to investigate her question about organic eggs. None of this mattered– I wasn’t in any hurry. We discussed organic eggs between us in the meantime; I was buying the other brand.

She didn’t have her own bag, but hey. It was like heaven to find her there in line. It’s such hard work, being the town hippie all by yourself.
