antioch is number one

I heard on KCBS a couple of days ago, that there is a serious mosquito problem in Antioch because of abandoned swimming pools– from all the foreclosed houses, I presume.

Also, about 90% of the West Nile positive birds found in the county have been found here.

We totally rule.

    Geez, that is positively atrocious; isn’t your part of the state usually relatively dry?
    The other 10% of the West Nile birds are here in Massachusetts; the state is very swampy.

      Well, our summers are dry, and most of the landscape, but we’re on the edge of the Delta, and do have marshes and inland waterways nearby, so that may have something to do with it. The rest of the county mostly has the hills/grassland terrain, without the wetlands…
