vanishing point

October 25, 2012

Well, good-bye, Rock Bottom records.

I never spent much time there myself; they mostly didn’t cater to people of my tastes. A friend came to town to check it out a few years back, and said a lot of the things on the shelf, you could still buy cheaper new. And he was an expert.

Still, it’s been here forever. According to my informants, it even spent a few years in the building in the previous entry, though that was during a period when I either wasn’t here, or wasn’t paying attention.

Anyway, it’s damn depressing. If old local businesses were gradually replaced by new ones, it wouldn’t be so bad, but that doesn’t seem to be the case. Unless you count the internet gambling dens and trashy dollar stores– I don’t.
